I’m your Midnight Grey Egyptian Limestone Bullnose Step, designed to bring bold character and a sleek, premium finish to your outdoor space. With my deeper charcoal-grey tones and natural variation, I create a more contemporary, architectural look while keeping all the timeless charm of authentic Egyptian limestone.

I don’t just sit pretty either. My lightly textured surface and smooth bullnosed leading edge help create a safe, seamless transition between levels, whether I’m framing a patio, terrace, garden pathway, or outdoor entertaining area. Clean lines, smooth flow, and a finish that instantly elevates the space around me.

Being a natural limestone, no two pieces of me are ever identical. You’ll notice subtle differences in shade, texture, surface markings, and the occasional fossil detail throughout. That’s all part of my natural character and what gives every installation its own unique personality. And because I’m tumbled, you may spot small edge chips or softer detailing too, helping me achieve that relaxed, aged appearance that feels effortlessly premium once installed.

For the full look, I pair perfectly with my matching Midnight Grey Egyptian Limestone Slabs & Setts, creating a seamless finish across your entire outdoor design.

What really sets me apart though is the way I’m finished.

Every single piece of me is:

  • Honed for a smooth, enhanced detail surface

  • Acid washed to enhance colour and provide texture

  • Tumbled for that relaxed, natural edge

  • Fully sealed on top and bottom

That seal helps protect me during installation, reduces the risk of staining, makes grouting easier, and keeps me looking sharp long after I’m laid. I’ve even got advanced efflorescence salt-block technology built in, helping minimise the risk of those stubborn white marks appearing over time.

FAQs

Will every slab, sett or step look different?

Yes! No two pieces are exactly the same. You’ll see slight colour variation, a bit of fossiling, the odd surface mark or small hole.

What does honed mean?

Smooth Yet Naturally Matt: Offering a soft, refined texture reminiscent of fine sandpaper or silky satin, without the glossy, reflective appearance associated with polished stone.

What does acid washed mean?

For limestone paving, acid washing typically:

  • Removes the very top layer of the stone, revealing more of its natural character.
  • Creates a lightly textured surface that offers more grip than a honed or polished finish.
  • Softens the colour tones, often giving the stone a more weathered, natural appearance.
  • Highlights the stone's natural variation, fossils, and subtle veining.
  • Reduces any manufacturing residue and helps achieve a consistent finish across the paving.
What does tumbled mean?

Tumbled limestone has been mechanically aged by placing the stone in a large drum with water and abrasive materials.

As the stone rotates, the edges and surface are gently worn down to create a softer, more weathered appearance.

The result is a stone that:

  • Has rounded, softened edges rather than crisp, sawn lines.
  • Features a naturally aged character, as though it has weathered over time.
  • Feels slightly textured and tactile underfoot.
  • Works particularly well in traditional, rustic, and cottage-style gardens.
  • Blends naturally into established landscapes thanks to its relaxed, timeless appearance.
